Project Highlights

Highland was selected by the California State University Trustees for it's second design build project to provide the Counseling / Disabled Student Health Services (CDSHS) facility for San Diego State University.

This Health Facility was programmed for energy savings and sustainable design, providing open, inviting, active spaces with natural light and ventilation to promote the concepts of physical activity, wellness, and health education. Energy savings was enhanced by using Photovoltaic Panels to provide energy for all Common Area Lighting. To support these concepts the building was designed around a central courtyard with access via exterior walkways with vertical circulation and exiting via a centrally located main stair originating at the building entrance. Highland provided all interior improvements and Furniture Fixtures and Equipment.

This project included a pharmacy, urgent care clinic, radiology and related functions, medical clinics and laboratories, optometry and dentistry clinics, as well as the medical information systems and medical record management department.

The Health Services Center also included extensive landscaping and extension of pedestrian walkways with decorative paving, lighting, and site furniture creating a seamless transition between the new facility and the existing university environment.
